Welcome

It’s been a minute since you’ve heard from me.  And truthfully, that wasn’t my plan.

When I began to revisit how I would grow my business (longer ago than I want to admit), I set up a lot of big plans and big expectations, including more consistent and direct communication with parents.

But I’m a parent too.  And other things came first.

School transitions.

Childcare needs.

Developmental transitions.

A global pandemic.

Sick kids.

Sick parents.

Professional development goals.

Self-care.

Snow days.

Existing patients and clients.

My marriage.

My friendships.

Extended family.

Because parenthood is a balance.  A negotiation between your goals as an individual and your goals as a parent.  And there will always be moments when they are in competition with one another.  And you’ll have to put something on the backburner even though you want to have it all.  And live with the feelings about what you’re giving up in order to lean-into where you’re choosing to prioritize your energy.

Like when:

You alter your daily habits to carry and birth a baby.

You pause your career so you can be the primary caregiver to your young children.

You miss bedtime so you can have a night out to connect with your partner.

You scale back on work because your children are growing and you feel your quiet presence is more important than ever.

You say yes to the promotion and more time away from home because you’ve been working towards this for 15 years and it fills you.

You rely on your community to coparent so you can have time to nurture your own hobbies and interests.

You spend hours in the car each week shuttling kids to their activities because those moments in between are full of connection, nurturing and laughs.

You miss their sporting event because you needed this weekend away with your friends.

You know what I mean.

So here I am.  Finally.

It’s my hope that this blog will be another platform to encourage you, build your confidence, give you new ideas, and support your commitment to nurture yourself, your child and your family as you move through the wild ride of parenthood-at every age, and every stage.

And it’s my intention to do that consistently.  But also to accept that in some seasons, that may not happen.  And that as parents yourself, you’ll understand.

Because we’re all in this together, right?!

Until next time,

Allie
